Case Studies

Spooler Rental, as part of Mooring Systems Limited can offer turnkey engineered systems integrating all hose related components of offshore projects.

Our technical staff provides static and dynamic analysis of hose systems (using visual Orcaflex), thermal and fluid estimation, finite element analysis and other complementary support.

Experience gained in previous projects allows us to provide dedicated engineers and marine personnel for field support, operations  planning and installation.  Some of our recent projects are outlined below:

Decommissioning project Tunisia

For a decommission project offshore Tunisia, Mooring Systems has supplied its new compact SR003 spooling unit, a 15te deck tensioner, and 5te winch. The company has also provided an experienced rigging team for the FPSO and DP vessels.

Cendor Malaysia  - Riser change out

Mooring Systems Ltd reacted quickly to change out an existing riser for the Cendor field development  offshore Malaysia - the riser had been damaged by a wire being dragged over the hose.  Mooring Systems air freighted out a new riser (200mt) from stock, mobilised spooling equipment in Singapore, and removed the old hose, installed the new one, and recovered the old riser.

Mooring Systems Flexible Flowline for BP Valhall Project

Moorings Systems has completed the installation of a flexible export flowline to transfer water to a DP tanker at the BP Valhall platform complex in the Norwegian North Sea. The project involved installation of 1,160 metres, 6” flexible flowline, front end engineering, mobilisation of equipment, and offshore installation team.

Mirage Field Gulf of Mexico November 2009

As part of the installation of MIN DOC3 floating drilling and production vessel, Moorings Systems supplied our unit SR002-75TE and the ancillary hoses. The new custom-built unit was loaded with the product hose before shipment via a 40ft flat rack container to Theodore, Alabama. Once offshore, our dedicated operators ensured the job was completed on time and within budget.

Bressay E.W.T.

Mooring Systems Limited supplied and mobilised its hydraulic quick connect/disconnect bow landing package, 300 metres of Flowline hose plus 80 metres of jumper hose from our own dedicated quayside facility at Montrose.  This equipment acted as the interface between the Stena Spey MODU and the BW Carmen FPSO.  Our spooler unit  SR004-16TE was utilised to transpool the hose product to the vessel’s storage facility under the supervision of our experienced operators.
